VISION Service Trip
Virgin Islands
University of St. Thomas, January 2019
VISION is a community building experience sponsored by The University of St. Thomas. The trips centered around Service, Simplicity, Spirituality, Community, Cultural Exchange, and Justice Issues.
My group focused on trail rehabilitation and general Environmentalism in the U.S. Virgin Islands for two weeks. The first week consisted of clearing out hiking trails and cleaning up hurricane Irma debris from the beaches. The second week our team focused on repainting historical sites on the island of St. Croix.
I applied my knowledge from camping and leadership experiences to group dynamics and campsite safety.

Founder and President
I started the first outdoor activity for the University of St. Thomas my sophomore year.
The club was finalized in December of 2018 and we had over 100 registered members.
The club's mission is to connect students who share a passion of the great outdoors and provide opportunities to explore what Minnesota has to offer for outdoor excursions.

National Outdoor Leadership School
Lander, Wyoming
June - July 2018

30 day backpacking trip hiking through the the Absaroka Wilderness (just outside of Yellowstone National Park).
I conquered new risks, challenges, and changing group dynamics on a daily basis.
This trip has helped me form a greater understanding of how to operate a successful group by understanding each members abilities, learning to think on the fly, and realizing that sometimes leaders need to act from within a group rather than from the front of the group.

Internship (Street Library Australia) & Study Abroad
Sydney Australia

May - July 2019

I interned at Street Library Australia, a subfacet of The Goodship.
I served as a Marketing Intern at Street Library. I extracted data from sites and analyze profitable areas around Australia. Utilizing the data, I compiled lists of areas and communities for potential growth. I developed skills to better orient products towards customers needs, and assisted in strategical meetings with clients.
The Goodship served as a mentoring program for promising individuals run by Nic Lowe, a successful entrepreneur based in Australia.
My educational aspect focused on Environmental Policy and Ethics in Australia.
Australia's environmental focus has been towards transition from using the land for profit towards forming a co-existing relationship with the land. Positive steps have included limitations on Great Barrier Reef tours, exponential increase in Solar energy sites, and a push towards carpooling and green public transit.
Australia differs from the US in going green by having concrete sites and statistics that are consistently tracked. This includes outlining major cities and projected growth in cities that will influence air and waste pollution.
